OpTier Offering Free App Performance Assessment for Firms Affected by Sandy

Remember Super Storm Sandy? The deadliest and most destructive hurricane of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season, and the second-costliest hurricane in United States history. We do. As a New York-based business, it’s been excruciatingly difficult to witness firsthand the torment and devastation the natural disaster inflicted on our friends, neighbors, and peers.

While it’s been half-a-year since Sandy made catastrophic landfall on New York, the fallout is far from over. Preliminary estimates assess damage at nearly $75 billion, a total surpassed only by Hurricane Katrina. As members in the local business community, we know the reality. We know it because we’ve been in constant communication with customers, partners and friends about the toll Sandy took on their respective businesses and families.

While many businesses have made full recoveries, others have not. Some we’ve talked to even lost their data centers during the super storm and are now running out of back-up data centers while they relocate/rebuild their primary data centers. As a result of the sobering stories we’ve heard and the brutal challenges still facing many of our neighboring businesses, we’re launching a program aimed at assisting these companies with a FREE Application Performance Assessment.

Case Study: Financial Services – Hyper Responsiveness Is Paramount

There are many thorny issues that can accompany application performance management (APM) efforts in a modern technology environment. One of them is undoubtedly confusion caused by complex IT architectures. Case Study: Consumer Lending – Finding the Root Cause of Application Problems

Problems in modern applications can be distressingly persistent. These complex apps, operating across a multitude of tiers, may end up slowing down based on factors users cannot pinpoint. Tracking down the issue calls for advanced application performance management designed with modern apps in mind, as legacy systems are decidedly ill-suited to uncover the source or nature of these issues. While traditional tools are based on deep dives alone, the new generation is capable of delivering an end-to-end view, drawing a direct line to the problem’s source. A recent OpTier deployment proved its efficacy in such cases. Read More »

Case Study: OpTier APM Helps Financial Services Company Manage Resource Conflicts Across Applications

There are many different applications running within large companies every day. No matter the field, modern operations are enabled by a web of compatible software programs. No one department ever has sway over all of these apps, meaning some of the miscommunication that takes place within corporate structures will have a direct bearing on how these programs work, both separately and together.

Combine that complex structure with the high-pressure environment of a lending firm, with customers’ money in motion, and any app problems must be untangled immediately. We recently reviewed one case study of OpTier APM helping a large financial services company improve performance.  Here is another prime example of OpTier application performance management in action to resolve application problems at another firm. OpTier Big Data Analytics and APM News Roundup for March 8, 2013

There is no shortage of new reports about big data analytics in action. This is not surprising, as the technology has caught on in a massive way with CIOs. What is perhaps a little shocking is just how many different industries and verticals are getting use out of big data analytics. Using big data as a resource has gone beyond its initial role as highly-evolved business intelligence in a few well-connected enterprises. Big data analytics can even transform public sector entities and firms in fields with strict information usage rules. Read More »
